High-beam assistant on the BMW 3 Series Coupé.

The high-beam assistant switches the main beam on and off automatically as required, relieving you of the need to keep adjusting the lights. Once activated, the high-beam assistant monitors the traffic and outside light via an image sensor on the rear-view mirror and decides whether the main beam should be switched on. If the system detects oncoming traffic or vehicles ahead of you or if light levels increase sufficiently, it then switches the main beam off again.
