The Two-Mode Active Transmission
in the BMW ActiveHybrid X6.

Drive up to 60 km/h powered solely by the electric motors, up to 780 Nm of system output at your control and spontaneous power in every situation. The Two-Mode Active Transmission is a mechatronic masterpiece that, from the driver's position, operates like a seven-speed automatic transmission. Two operating modes are available, one for starting off at high torque and low speed, the other for high efficiency when travelling at faster speeds. The two electric motors function either as a generator to charge the high-performance battery or they can power the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 with up to 62 kW (84 hp) and 260 Nm.
