CONNECTED DRIVE SERVICES.
The equipment option ConnectedDrive Services forms the basis for the BMW ConnectedDrive functions, which provide the driver with a wide range of information, entertainment and service features while on the road.
These include BMW Online, which provides access to current, localised information such as weather, news, an online search powered by GoogleTM and also office functions.
Convenient, secure and unlimited access to selected smartphone apps is also included. The equipment option ConnectedDrive Services offers all this and more, making every trip in a BMW a real experience.
Connected Drive Services.
The equipment feature Apps is a platform that enables the convenient use of selected smartphone apps in BMW vehicles. In order to make a variety of apps available for their customers, BMW not only develops its own apps, such as BMW Connected and M Laptimer, but also works closely with partners like Napster, GoPro, Deezer, Spotify and Audible so that those apps can also be used safely inside the car.
Simply attach a compatible smartphone to vehicle with the snap-in adapter if one is available, or a USB cable. All of the app's functions can then be conveniently operated via the iDrive Controller. The selection of apps available for use in the car is constantly expanding thanks to close partnerships between BMW and a variety of different suppliers. For further information see www.bmw.com/apps.
For anyone who has ever wanted to know what it is like to have their own personal butler, here is the chance: with Concierge Services from BMW ConnectedDrive. At the push of a button the driver is connected with a BMW Call Centre agent who acts as their "personal assistant" on the road.
From a particular restaurant to the nearest cash dispenser or an emergency pharmacy – the BMW Call Centre agent is there to help and can even send information directly to the navigation system. Concierge Services operate independently of the driver's mobile phone and are available in their home country and abroad, around-the-clock, seven days a week and at no extra cost.
Remote Services enables customers to use a smartphone to locate where the car is parked, to lock and unlock the car remotely, and much more.With Remote Services and the free My BMW Remote App (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store), various vehicle-related functions, such as locking and unlocking the car, can be operated remotely. It is also possible to directly transmit destination addresses found using the Google™ search engine to a navigation system if one is available. Additionally, the location of the vehicle can also be displayed. To use this feature, customers simply need to activate Remote Services once in the "My BMW ConnectedDrive" customer portal at www.bmw-connecteddrive.com.
REAL TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION.
Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) provides the most up-to-date traffic information at all times. Precise details about the time and duration of hold-ups are relayed to provide almost instantaneous traffic information about motorways, country roads and main roads, as well as numerous urban routes. Intelligent alternative route suggestions help the driver reach their destination as efficiently as possible. The data is drawn from such sources as anonymous movement profiles from the GPS data of vehicle fleets, smartphone apps and police reports, and also takes into account established traffic patterns such as peak commute times.
The traffic information is clearly presented, with the roads displayed in green, yellow, orange and red.

INTELLIGENT EMERGENCY CALL.
The Intelligent Emergency Call guarantees fast, targeted assistance round-the-clock as well as support from trained staff – in the driver's native language, even abroad. If an accident takes place involving the activation of an airbag or the belt tensioners, an Intelligent Emergency Call is automatically issued. Relevant details such as the exact position of the car, the severity of the accident and the possible risk of injury to occupants are transmitted to the BMW Call Centre via the car’s built-in SIM card, i.e. independent of a private mobile phone. The BMW Call Centre will inform the nearest rescue coordination centre and provide assistance over the phone until the rescue services arrive. The emergency call can also be triggered manually in case other road users require help, for example.
