NEW COMPETITION PACKAGE AMPS UP THE SPORTY PERSONALITY OF THE ALL-NEW BMW M3 AND M4. ARRIVING THIS MONTH (JUNE), LATEST BMW M PACKAGES SET TO REDEFINE HIGH-PERFORMANCE SPORTS CARS FOR AUTOMOTIVE AFICIONADOS.
June 16, 2016, BMW M GmbH will offer a new competition package in the Middle East – perfect for all those who would like their BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M4 Coupé or BMW M4 Convertible to be a little sharper with more power, new suspension components, wheel enhancements and a more distinctive engine sound.
The BMW M3 Sedan, M4 Coupé and M4 Convertible competition packages can be distinguished by the forged 20” light alloy wheels optimised with mixed tyres (front: 265/30 R20, rear: 285/30 R20) and an M exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes.
Low-slung and broad-set, the new BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupé and Convertible share a finely balanced stance on the road. The M-specific design of the three high-performance sports cars underlines their performance capability. Large air intakes and Air Curtains at the front end, exposed carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and aluminium body components, and the diffuser at the muscular rear end are not merely design flourishes; they also fulfil functional roles in terms of aerodynamics, cooling and weight saving.
Extending from the prominent BMW kidney grille and the M grille is the BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow line content, labelling the model with a visual accent. The special light weight M sports seats of the BMW M4 Coupé and the BMW M3 Sedan provide excellent lateral support and even when at a high speed, it is guaranteed to provide a comfortable ride. The seatbelts with integrated BMW M stripes are another detail adding sporting appeal in the interior.
The engine has a voice of its own with a powerful growl, audible as soon as the engine ignites and during acceleration, making it an even more pleasurable drive. In addition to comprehensive modifications designed to optimise handling, there is extra power with a 14kW/19 hp power increase to 331kW/450 hp. The increase in power further enhances the performance of all the three models: Sedan, Coupé and Convertible. It shaves 0.1 seconds off the acceleration time from 0 to 100km/h, resulting in the M3 Sedan and M4 coupé with the seven-speed M double clutch transmission now only taking 4.0 seconds (4.2 seconds with manual gearbox) to reach 100 km/h, while the M4 Convertible takes 4.3 seconds (4.5 sec).
The Competition package also includes the Adaptive M Suspension, which has been modified to support the increased power: new springs, dampers and stabilisers providing an even better handling. In line with an enhanced dynamic performance, the parameters for COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+ modes have been fine-tuned along with the suspense of the rear axle’s Active M differential and those of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) System.
